The volume of natural gas exports from Azerbaijan to Syria has been announced

Azerbaijani gas exports to Syria via Turkey began on August 2 of this year. The first phase of the project plans to export 1.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Syria annually. The gas will be supplied to power plants in Aleppo and Homs via the Turkish city of Kilis and used to generate electricity. This process is expected to achieve a power generation capacity of 1,200-1,300 megawatts.

From January to October of this year, Azerbaijan exported 153.157 million cubic meters of natural gas (in gaseous form) to the Syrian Arab Republic, worth $52.501 million.

According to Trend, the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan provided this information.

It should be noted that on July 12 of this year, during a working visit to Azerbaijan by Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Shara'a, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between SOCAR and the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic. The document was signed by SOCAR Supervisory Board Chairman Mikayil Jabbarov and Syrian Energy Minister Mohammed al-Bashir.

According to the signed document, all technical preparations for the natural gas transportation have been completed. Azerbaijani gas exports to Syria via Turkey began on August 2 of this year. It should be added that, in total, from January to October 2025, Azerbaijan exported 20.649 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth $7.418 billion. This represents an increase of $569.3 million, or 8.3%, in value compared to the same period last year, and a decrease of 690.003 million cubic meters, or 3.2%, in volume.

Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of this year, Azerbaijan imported 252.158 million cubic meters of natural gas worth $39.151 million. This represents a decrease of $40.2 million, or half the value, and a decrease of 243.6 million cubic meters, or 49.1%, in volume compared to the previous year.
